PES Greece on the EU Solidarity Corps

PES Activists Greece joined the ‘European Solidarity Corps’ event organized by the City of Athens’ Europe Direct office, on 27 September. It was in the Town Hall of sunny Athens.

National Coordinator of PES Activists Greece, Theodore Douloumpekis, made the case for activism and solidarity, showing some examples of how PES Activists Greece promotes solidarity among citizens, regions and EU States. The UniVest Campaign about scholarships for refugees – check Theodoros’ post on the Activists’ forum - was among the highlights that attracted the interest of the guests.

He said: ‘For PES Activists, activism is the means and solidarity is our goal.’

Meanwhile, Thanasis Tsaldaris, Coordinator of PES activists in Kalamata and a member of ‘Generation 2.0 RED’, an NGO, presented activities involving second generation immigrants in Greece.

In the margins of the event, PES Activists Greece had the chance to discuss cooperation with the Mayor of Athens and Greek presidential candidate running for the Greek Democratic Coalition, Giorgos Kaminis and the head of the European Commission Representation in Belgium, Jimmy Jamar.
